Choosing a domain name of a blog
When you are preparing to launch a blog of your own, you need to come up with a good domain name for it. It may take you awhile to come up with it but it is important that you do. The name should be different, easy to remember and it should be descriptive. Choosing a domain name for a blog can sometimes be almost as difficult as finding a name for your baby! Think wisely and more importantly think of a domain name that can guarantee you traffic. You might also want to consider deleted domains as an alternative.
In order to be guaranteed of traffic, your domain name should be the kind that would appear in as many search engines as possible. Your domain name should suggest what your blog is about. It will do you good to come up with a rare or unique domain name and yet something that will be pulled up by search engines. Make sure you aren’t copying anyone else’s domain name. you want to stay clear of any legal complications you are likely to get in to if you borrow a domain name belonging to someone else.
Though choosing a domain name can be challenging, if you go about it the right way, you can up with one that’s effective and will promise you traffic and more traffic. To begin with try coming up with a name that reflects or describes or at least hints towards what your blog is all about. Think about what age group you are targeting, what sex and then decide about the domain name. You also need to consider what traffic you are aiming for. Traffic can be categorized into three groups, one is your faithful readers, second is random search engines and finally you have your referral sites. Also while choosing a domain name one should consider listing the goals or aspirations or the plans for the future of the blog. As discussed earlier, the domain name should reflect what the blog is about. Sometimes blogs begin aiming to do one thing and in the future they switch to doing something more or different from what they began doing and hence the domain name doesn’t make sense since it suggests one thing and the blog is about another thing.
One needs to list the blog goals out and then choose a name. you have to be sure that the blog is going to remain true to its goals and not get sidetracked and move away from its goals.
