The Introduction Of Blogging

Since the existence of the world wide web, personal sites and links have been created.  This concept drew many people to the internet.  Pages of information were constantly published.  During this early stage, the concept of having access to a computer to get the information was more important that the content itself. 

When web pages came into being, the internet accepted them with open arms.  When the concept for this increased, the internet started growing at a phenomenal rate.  Without additional space and other components available, getting information became more tedious and time consuming.

Because of the frustration, people started to place their links on a single page.  They would use text to explain what people needed to do to get more information.  It advised them as to why they should click the links.  At the time, a lot of editors weren’t familiar with HTML or creating a web page.  All they did was do regular maintenance on websites. 

These sites, when they first hit the internet, were called weblogs.  These sites started to increase in growth and some of them even became personal diaries on the web.  They would talk about anything like their family, weight loss, or anything they were personally interested in. 

Nowadays, weblogs are referred to as blogs. People who post to their blogs cover entertainment, politics, internet marketing, and any other subject that will attract an audience.  You will also have the audience comment on some of your posts.  They will do this especially if they have something in common with what you wrote. 

If they disagree, they’ll want to air their beef on your site.  These sites can create an interactive social networking arena.  These sites are good to have because they can foster many opinions about different topics.  This is a way people can get their voice heard.  They don’t necessarily have to track down the printed media, who nine times out of ten won’t publish what you have to say anyway. 

There are professional bloggers as well as amateurs.  Professional bloggers tend to study their sources more carefully before posting.  They must be held accountable for what they write to be true and accurate.  If not, they can end up with egg on their face. 

Their best thing they can do in this case is to provide corrections as quickly as possible, along with an apology. This will keep them credible in the eyes of the visitors and readers.  They depend on them to provide quality information.     

If you don’t constantly strive to provide quality and accurate information to your audience, they will find it hard to come back to your site.  You will no longer be viewed as a voice of authority and dependability.  They will no longer be able to trust your judgment. 

This is why it is important for those who provide information to the public to maintain ethics and integrity as if you were a journalist writing for a newspaper.  Essentially, that’s what professional bloggers are, journalists to the world wide web.

Blogging can be fun and informative at the same time.  If you do it honestly and provide information that people are interested in, they’ll keep coming back for more.
