How To Submit Your Site(s) To Blog Directories

If you’re a fairly new blogger and you only have so many readers, you’ll probably want to know how you can increase your traffic to get more readers.  In addition to article marketing, you can submit your site(s) to blog directories. 

There are so many sites on the internet and many more that are being created each day.  Submitting and registering your site this way can help people locate you and want to read your content.

You can find blog directories by doing a search on Google.  They have plenty of sites where you can submit and register your blogs.  A lot of the sites you can submit your information to for free, which is probably the way you should go initially. 

If you plan on submitting to a lot of sites, you may want to consider signing up for a free e-mail, like Yahoo or Hotmail.  This way, the only e-mail information you’ll receive will be from the directories.  Furthermore, it won’t clog up your other e-mail systems. 

All directories all not equal.  Some may require you to register, some may not.  Either way, it’s best to follow the instructions as listed in order to you to get the full service they provide. 

Most directories will accept more than one submission of your sites.  However, you may have to use different logins and passwords for each one.  You could probably still use the same e-mail address.  Using the same e-mail address would help so you’d have all your information in one place. 

The site may ask you for the URL to your blog or your RSS feed.  Provide them with what they ask for.  If they ask for a URL, provide them with that.  If they ask for an RSS feed, provide them with the feed.  Some sites may have different places where they ask for URLs and RSS feeds.  Always type in your URL beginning with http://, then the site name. 

If you want to upload a photo or other image, there are different types of photo software to use for this purpose.  Make sure the software has an image editing feature where you can edit the photo or image if need be.  The items can be uploaded via a free image hosting site or your server on your computer.  You can search Google for a list of free image hosting sites.    

You will use the reciprocal link URL function to place a link to their directory.  This can help you get more exposure and traffic.

You can use keywords that describe what you site is about.  In addition to that you can use a few brief sentences to give a description of your site.  These are called meta tags.  Meta tags are used for search engines so that your site can rank appropriately.

If you’re really interested in traffic (and you should be), you may want to use the directory to track how many visitors come to your site.  There will be a link on the directory that applies to your site and you can check your stats from there. 

When submitting your information, take your time.  You want to make sure it’s done correctly so that you can get the exposure you need for your blog(s).
