How Political Blogs Have Shaped The Political
Arena
Political blogs cover issue about what else?
Politics. Both the right and the left have a field day with
providing commentary and getting feedback from what they write
about on their site. They definitely utilize their right to
free speech, no matter who they may offend.
The right and the left will criticize each other to no
end. There are also people in the middle who get their share
too. Not everyone that comments on politics is necessarily
extreme or laid back. It‘s good to have that mixture so that
you can have a variety to choose from.
For the most part, these sites are known for their strong biases
against other people. They tell it like it is and then all
hell can break loose. Just one comment from someone can fuel
a war of words.
These sites can also be looked at as providing opinionated
comments that are not picked up in the media world. Since
this concept has evolved, more of the media and other groups are
now changing the way they include political information, which
includes commentary from political bloggers.
Most of the focus of these bloggers is about news and current
events. To give themselves a bigger platform, they will
connect links to their site which feature political news stories
and information that they deem relevant. Sometimes, they will
add their own opinionated spin as well.
There is a part of the site called a watch blog, which is
devoted to cutting up what they consider erroneous
information. They also look at it as being biased toward
their affiliated political leaning.
The watch blog is in a targeted market of its own. Even
so, if they find a political story that’s newsworthy and generates
controversy, they will publish it on their site. This can
eventually help them gain additional exposure. The bias of
both sides is very well known and neither the right nor the left
make no bones about displaying that.
These sites can serve as a catalyst to affect politicians in the
U.S. Government. There’s always someone making a remark that will
offend others. Most times initially, the politician will
ignore it as hogwash and doesn’t make light of it. However,
when the bloggers get wind of it and start to capitalize on the
issue, it explodes and can make things worse for that
person.
In order to quell the noise generated by the controversy,
they either they end up apologizing, resigning or both. It’s
amazing how much power a site has when used in this way.
These sites can also serve as a medium for politicians when
they’re running for election or re-election. Since the
donation limits were introduced, politicians have to find creative
ways to generate funds for their campaign.
One way this can be done is using a grassroots effort to employ
bloggers to get the word out. If people take a genuine
interest in your platform and what you have to offer, they’ll be
more than eager to donate to your campaign. The campaign
sites are set up now where you don’t have to use a postage stamp to
send it in. You can use a credit card to donate right on the
website.
Political blogs have brought the world of politics into a whole
new dimension of coverage. It has definitely elevated the
focus of the political world as we see it today.
