How To Eliminate Spam Comments From Your Blog
Do you have a problem with unscrupulous webmasters who keep adding spam comments to your blog?
I own a number of different blogs and have been bombarded by comments from people who are basically just hoping to gain some link juice.
The more popular the blogs became the more susceptible it became to these spam comments, especially when they managed to achieve high page
rank scores.
So how do you solve the problem of spam comments on your blog and why can they be so damaging?
The more experienced webmasters will already beware that to link to what are called bad neighbourhoods can have a negative affect on your sites
rankings.
I noticed on my own sites that a lot of the comments were from people who ran porn websites.
I certainly did not want the blogs associated with these types of sites and did not want the visitors to be re-directed to such a site. No
doubt Google would not be too impressed if they found out that I was linking out to porn sites.
One way of eliminating the comments is by simply removing. This however can be very time
consuming and can become quite boring. I would rather spend my time writing articles such as this one to promote my websites.
My name is Tony Weiss and my main website is focused on my main business which is offering people cheaper call costs. For me when you get a bad name in the eyes of Google it can have a damaging affect on all of your sites. I
could not risk my business website being damaged in this way.
To really destroy the spammers confidence I started by making it clear that any comment that was posted on my blogs would be no-followed,
basically this means that it does not pass any of this valuable link juice.
I believed that this would solve the problem, unfortunately I was wrong. In the end I have had to restrict comments to the people that become
members of the blogs and am happy to report that this has worked.
The thing about spammers is that they are lazy. They can not be bothered to spend time filling out online forms to become a member, which is
great news for me.
