Five Ways To Define Your Blog And Build Your
Brand
You shouldn’t just think of your blog as just that. It
should be defined as a unique brand. Make it something
different than what everyone else has and make it stand out.
When your site is unique, it can be powerful. People will
want to see what you have to say. Why should they visit your
site if it looks like the other cookie cutter sites out there in
cyberspace?
Here are some ways you
can define your brand of your blog:
1. You must let your readers know what you’re
offering. If you’re providing information, explain what’s
it’s about. Don’t create vague postings where no one
understands what you’re talking about. Your postings must
have meaning and quality content. Otherwise you’ll find
yourself with fewer readers. If you offer a service, let your
readers know what that is. After all, you should be in the
business of helping others. This is the strategy that’s used
by lots of marketers in order to make money. If it’s all
about you, then it won’t work. Offer any relevant products to
your readers. Make sure the product is something they may be
able to use. Don’t just recommend or sell anything just
because you want to make a quick buck.
2. Why is your blog not like everyone else’s? This
was briefly mentioned earlier in the article, but you can elaborate
more on your site. Just don’t sound like you’re bragging or
that will turn off your readers. They won’t want to come back
if you make it sound like you know everything. You can
mention what makes you different without having to bash other blog
sites.
3. What is the purpose of your blog? Is it for fun
and entertainment, internet marketing or maybe politics? You
have to establish a purpose so that visitors will know whether or
not your site is for them. Not all sites are for
everybody. Everyone doesn’t care for hard-core political
views, whether it comes from the left or the right.
4. Do you know who your target market is? That is one
of the first things you should establish before you even think
about trying to get visitors and readers to your site. Your
target market should be focused and not necessarily a bunch of
different things at once. Having a target market will
effectively provide you with visitors and readers to your site.
5. Do you know where your site will be headed in the next
few years after it starts? Will you be able to keep the
appetite for it to keep your readers and visitors coming? One
way to figure out about changes is to continually test the
waters.
If you see your readership dwindling, do a survey and ask them
what they would like for you to discuss. You should probably
conduct a survey every once in a while anyway. Keeping up
with trends and changes can help you keep your readership.
As with any business venture, have some type of action plan,
even if it’s only a few paragraphs. You can always make
adjustments as you go. Remember to pay attention to your
readers continually. Without them, your blog may go
nowhere.
