Blogarama – A Free Blog Directory To Give Your
Site Exposure
Blogarama is one of the largest blog directories online and it’s
free to use. When you list your blog(s), it takes effect
immediately. However, editors will still have to accept your
listing manually. This process can take anywhere from one to
ten days.
You will know whether or not your site has been accepted or
rejected by them through e-mail correspondence. Blogarama
receives an avalanche of submissions everyday, so it may take a
minute for you to hear back from them. They do note that you
probably won’t get the e-mail if you have an anti-spam device
because their time is limited going through all the submissions
they receive.
There are many different categories to which you can find a
place for your blog. Some of them include: art, books,
business, current events, design, entertainment, religion, health
and fitness, music, politics and government and much more.
You can easily be approved if your site is an actual blog.
Your site should not contain content that has been plagiarized or
not legal in any form or fashion. The site does not want
submissions that are comprised of welcome pages, site under
construction, blogs that require a password to access and overly
promoting spam blogs.
If you need to edit you blog listing, you can do so by going to
the “My Sites” section and make changes and adjustments as
needed.
The site does allow you to advertise on their site for a
fee. For sponsored text ads, the cost is $100 per
month. For sponsored context ads the cost is $75 per
month. You automatically get free exposure when you list your
site with them. The editors review your ads before they are
placed to ensure that the content is not offensive or
illegal.
A score to each submission. They contribute greatly to
your page ranking in the search engines. Depending on your
traffic, visitors and other things, you can receive a high or low
score. The higher your score, the better chance you have of
ranking in the search engines.
There is a way you can get inclusion in the “100 Most Cool
Section” of their site. If your blog(s) send the most
incoming traffic to Blogarama, then you will be part of this
group. Not only does this tactic qualify you for that, your
score plays a part as well.
There are also sections in the site called “100 Most Popular
Section” and “100 Highly Rated Section”. The criteria is
somewhat similar, also factoring in your score.
You can track your traffic to your site by having a link to the
blog directory on your site. Click the link and it will
direct you to their home page. There will be a section with
your site title and a reader.
This will provide any information you need to know regarding
your blog site, including traffic information.
If you think your site is not being tracked, here’s what you can
do. Check to make sure that the link is on or under the link
that is in the listing. Your link should not be redirected;
otherwise you will be tracked by Blogarama.
If you’re just starting out with blogs, you may want to put this
site on your list for submissions.
